In the Trenches of Camp Season

This past summer my husband and I visited my family in Southern Louisiana, and they showed us all around, giving us a true feel of the unique culture of that part of the country.

We got to eat fresh caught seafood, explore the area, and we even got to canoe through an alligator swamp, where we saw and heard gators swimming near us.

Looking back, I CANNOT believe we did this! But it was such a cool and exhilarating experience!

If your husband or boyfriend is a fall sport coach, I know that you are in the trenches of camp season and feeling the whiplash of going from a summer of more time with your man, to that abrupt change of pace that comes with being in camp, or "two-a-days."

For me, I think camp is the hardest time of being a coach's wife. When you're in the season you have the consistency of a regular schedule, where you know a little more of what to expect. You also have the excitement and anticipation of game day at least once a week.

But camp season? It's a grueling schedule of non-stop work for our husbands and a lot more "me time" for us wives and girlfriends than we ever thought we would need. And when they are finally home, it's not necessarily quality time to make up for time apart, but is more them recovering from their busy schedules that are both physically and mentally exhausting.

---

Coach WAGS, I see you.

I see your struggle of feeling alone and frustrated at the GRIND that is camp.

I feel your frustration when all you want is 10 minutes of quality time together, but the schedule just doesn't allow for that.

I understand how you feel rejected when your coach is too busy to talk on the phone, or when he falls asleep during your conversation.

---

But ya know who also understands how you're feeling right now? The One who created you.

When you feel alone, remember that "He will never leave you nor forsake you." -Deut. 31:6

When you're feeling frustrated- "Do not grow weary in doing good. You will reap a harvest if you do not give up." - Gal. 6:9

When you feel rejected, remember that GOD is the one who is supposed to meet all of your needs. Not your husband. -Phil 4:19

---

Maybe this resonates with you, and maybe it doesn't. But I have heard from SO MANY coach wives in the past week who are STRUGGLING with the grind of camp right now.

If that's you, you're not alone. We all feel it. And our husbands also feel it. They need grace just as much as we do.

I see your struggle, and so does God. This is the perfect time to lean on Him when you feel like you're about to break. And if you need a friend. I'm here for you.

We've got this ladies!
