As the wife of a college football coach, you can imagine I have plenty of clothes in my closet dedicated towards game day.
I like to make decisions on what to wear to game day based on the vibes of our current school and also what is going to make me feel comfortable.
One of my favorite options to put together for game day is wearing an outfit with our school colors. This also makes it so I don't have to get rid of half my closet when it's time to transition to a new school again, and can wear it in a setting other than game day, as well.
Here are 3 tips in choosing what to wear for game day to help you feel cute and comfortable as you cheer on your favorite team!
1. Be on the lookout for your school colors while you are shopping.
Local boutiques are often stocked with the colors of the local schools, so be on the lookout for those! If you are more of an online shopper there are even easier ways to narrow it down to your school colors by using the 'filter' option that many sites have. I have also found myself searching for options in our school colors on Amazon!
2. Shop intentionally
I like to buy clothes that can serve more than one purpose. So while I might have a few t-shirts that mention football or game day, I like to mostly stick to the clothes that I can wear outside of our sport.
These are the clothes that can also be worn for work, date night, and church.
I don't know about you, but I have TONS of t-shirts and clothes in my closet, and I try to do little things here and there that help me not buy something that would be used in only one type of setting.
Try to shop in a way that is not going to break the bank, and also be a little easier on the environment.
Pack plenty of layers (and also maybe some gloves) for those outdoor games where the weather can be unpredictable. I have been deceived by the weather forecast many times in my experience as a coach's wife. One year we had a game where the weather was supposed to be 50 degrees so I wore plenty of layers. The sun was directly on us, and I quickly shed many of the layers I brought. And then the following week I assumed the same 50 degree forecast would bring similar weather, and was VERY unprepared when the sun disappeared behind the clouds. All that to say, be prepared for several types of weather, even when you think you know what you're going to get.
