Pray for Coaching Families

With so many coaches losing their jobs in the middle of the season this year, I can't help but hurt for these families who are having to uproot their lives without knowing that next step, or worry about how they are going to pay their bills. There can be so much uncertainty in times like this for coaching families, and being on the chopping block is not a great feeling.

My heart goes out to these children who are being teased at school, saying how their dad should get fired,

and then after that happens, having to uproot their lives and start over in a new town and school for the 2nd time that year. Or the coach wives who are worried sick about where their family's next paycheck is going to come from and how they will pay their mortgage this month.

If you are reading this as a coach wife, please know that I am praying for you. I pray for my fellow coach wives each night. It is a bond we share that cannot be broken, even if we have never met. These times are not easy, but one thing that I continue to tell myself is, "God has never let me down before, and he's not going to start now!" God has ALWAYS provided for us.

One of my favorite verses and one to repeat to yourself in times like this is from Philippians 4:6-7.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

If you are reading this as a fan, I pray that you can also take something from this. I hope that you can realize that there is a family behind the comments that are said. I pray that you can empathize with these families during these difficult and unstable times.

I also pray that you can understand there is never just one person on which to pin blame when a season isn't going as well as expected. Coaches want to win even more than you do. They work hard and they are doing everything within their power to build their players in men and women who are responsible and successful human beings.

Again, my prayers go out to my fellow coaching families as we are close to closing out our fall sports seasons. You are not alone. Please reach out if you need an ear to vent to or for me to pray with you! We are in this together!
